Vanilla sky (2001):
Vanilla Sky is one of those movies that took me at least three trials to finally understand it and when I did; it made me uneasy for days. I will tell you why in a minute. David played by Tom Cruise inherits his family magazine fortune does not have a worry in the world. Pretty boy love the girls and make them cry type of guy. He was bound to make one of them a jilted one. Cameron Diaz plays the character of the jilted ex girlfriend who could not stand to see David with anyone else but her, so she planned to kill herself and David in a car crash which did not go her way. David survives the accident with minor problems his face is forever disfigured though. What a pretty boy to do! His face was his reputation, his pride, his passport. So, he stayed home most of the time after the accident. Prior to the days leading to the accident he had met this pretty aspiring dancer played by Penelope Cruz, to whom he talked and had a one night stand with, but there was something about her. He wanted more, he was taken by her. But since the accident, he grew aloof, and was no longer the charismatic pretty boy anymore, so she disappeared out of his life just like that. Sometimes, you may think you can escape your life, it will still be happening in your mind. Either you like or not. As a result, he goes to see a doctor after he had seen so many commercials about their reconstructive surgery, he had all the money in the world, all he wanted was a surgeon that could tell him yes, they could fix his face. So, he did find that surgeon, and that company but the price he had to pay had nothing to do with money. It was with his memories. It made me uneasy because I can only imagine to think I may be living right now, but all that I do on a daily basis, all the people that I interact with and became friends with are not real; That I asked a doctor to put them in my mind and not to let me be aware of it. Well, that shook me a little and I am sure if you see it my way, it could do the same thing to you.

The most romantic scene...
The Loyal Friend
There were two best friends from New Orleans, who came from a poor background and was going to the big apple to make something out of their lives. Little did they know that life will never be the same afterwards…
They were on their way to New York by bus, they were talking their plans out on how many jobs they were going to apply for, and hopefully get their big break in the long run. Jonas, and Jeremy were friends since elementary school, they had the same dreams to be one day very successful in whatever they set their minds to accomplish.
They were both nineteen, they finished high school and felt that New Orleans had nothing to offer them. As they did not have any aspiration to go to college or to be musicians, so their minds were set for the big apple.
Here they were, in NYC, with no money, no jobs, just back packs with another pair of change clothes, and a notebook. They stayed in a couple of subways in Manhattan, and Jonas the most inspired one, decided to create a character and sell it to one of those big TV networks. Hereon, their lives started to change for the better, or worse depending on the way you see life.
Jonas created this character based on the life of an old man he knew from growing up in the n.o. he never really took this old man seriously when he used to tell him tales of witchcraft, sorcery, and vampires, but he felt there was some potential that could come out of these stories.
He brought the old man’s stories to life. He wrote a playwright, and he even designed the old man’s portrait. This old man’s name was tonton Marcel. He was dark skinned, with grey hair, with a face that has seen pretty much everything the world could bring unto his door steps. He was so old; he walked with a Cannes, and always wore a hat. He was well known by the neighborhood, every one respected him, he was one of those old men who never grew tired to give advice to youngsters or never too busy to tell kids a story of his past, full of life and adventures, stories that everyone thought was make believe, in reality, were very truthful.
Jonas became very successful by selling the stories to one of those big networks; he received his cut and invested some in stocks, bought a house in upstate NY, and totally dismissed his buddy Jeremy. As if he had never known him.
Jeremy could never find a job, it seems almost as if he had bad luck written all over him. Until one night as he was looking for a spot to fall asleep in central park, he saw an apparition of tonton marcel. He thought he was going crazy, he could not believe what he was seeing but it was as real as the plastic bags he carried with him everywhere he went. He was in total shock and asked tonton marcel what was wrong with him and how did he make it to NY.
Tonton marcel told him to not worry about how he made it to NY but what he is there to tell him. Tonton marcel told him about the stories, he used to tell them as they were kids, and he warned Jeremy to find Jonas to tell him to take the story back from the network he sold it to, or his life will be a living hell literally. Jeremy could not understand why. But he was the good natured and patient one, so he made it his mission to go to Syracuse where Jonas lived since his newfound fortune to warn him of this bad business. Jeremy begged in the city for two days until he made enough money to go see Jonas. Once he made it to Jonas’ doorsteps, he knocked and a maid opened the door for him, he asked the maid to see Jonas immediately. But the maid took almost what seems to be an eternity to take her stare off Jeremy to go get her master. She let him in after Jonas gave her the go ahead. And there Jeremy was, face to face with his childhood friend that made it and now he was about to tell him to take it all back or else.
Jeremy was never jealous of Jonas; he was never upset at Jonas for not taking him along. He was just waiting patiently for his big break but he had to put one foot in the door to do so, which Jonas did. In fact, he was happy for him at least one of them made it, he would say to himself at night under the stars.
Jonas greeted him, and they started to talk about everything and anything until Jeremy broke the news to him. Jonas told him that it was absurd; there was no way he would do such a thing. This old man has been dead for years, how can Jeremy of all people see him in central park? Jonas accused Jeremy of being jealous of his success in life. Jeremy told him, that he was not making this up, and tried numerous times to convince Jonas with no success. So Jeremy left and went back to NYC.
As he was making his way back to the central park one night, he saw tonton marcel again, this time he acted as if he did not see him, and went on about finding a spot to fall asleep.
Tonton marcel followed him and said: "it’s okay Jeremy, I know you can see me, and I know that you went to Jonas and delivered the message for me, and for your loyalty use these numbers in the New York lottery tomorrow and you shall receive your rewards for your hard earned services." Jeremy was speechless. He just took the piece of paper that had the number written on them from tonton marcel and as swift as the wind, tonton marcel disappeared.
Jeremy could not wait, the whole night, he was thinking about what he could do with this money if it was for real…he grew restless so he open his back pack and took the notebook he wrote his plans on ten years ago, when he was on his way to the big apple with his friend jonas, he opens the notebook and went over those plans again. There were only five wishes and they were:
Wish one: to go back to n.o. and buy my mom a house
Wish two: to open a center for kids with aids in New Orleans
Wish three: to open up a center for senior citizens for their entertainment
Wish four: to buy a house for me and Jonas
Wish five: to donate my time to volunteer work in homeless shelters.
It was so long ago, when he wrote this, and started to tear a little at the thought that he could possibly get to realize some of those wishes. So, he finally fell asleep peacefully.
First thing in the morning, he got up and went to the nearest convenience store, he applied the numbers that were given to him by tonton marcel to the lottery ticket and bought those numbers. Jeremy waited patiently outside an electronic store to run the NYC lottery ticket winners for the day. Hours went by, and it started to get darker, and at last, the announcer read off his ticket numbers to win the mega million dollars lottery. Jeremy was so happy and so calm, at that instant he started to cry. He could not stop crying. Passersby saw him and laughed at him, but he did not budge, he was crying because he knows exactly what he was going to do with all that money. He had a plan.
Jeremy became richer than most hard working people in the entire world in one day. He carried out his plan; he realized all of his wishes.
Ten years later... as he is volunteering in one of those homeless shelters, he spotted Jonas in the last clothes he saw him in ten years earlier. Without a second thought, he went to attend to Jonas, he hugged Jonas and told him how much he missed him all these years, Jonas was 39 now, he went to the big apple, realized his dream but never helped another soul, came back crawling into his hometown after he lost his house, he lost his stocks, he lost every thing he had ever own, and was pushed to go back to new Orleans or he could face jail time. So there he was 20 years later with nothing to show for.
Jeremy took him aside, as if nothing had ever happened before and told him that they had a house together, he was waiting for him to finally make it home.

Gemini and Capricorn: the forbidden love relationship
This article is dedicated to all horoscope fanatics…it’s not about what you believe in sometimes, it is about how much is true from what you believe in…
A Capricorn is a very intense, workaholic, serious Earth Sign. This sign is very persistent, very stubborn, very intelligent, over-achiever and will not give up easily.
The Capricorn goes for deep relationships, they are very intense, and serious about whom they choose to be in their lives. A female Capricorn can scare a guy away because they tend to be too head-strong, and independent.
A Gemini is a very down to Earth sign, very sociable, very flexible, very hard-working, but tends to use the easy way out to make their money faster. This sign does not believe in doing anything the conventional way. The Gemini goes for the light relationships, does not want to feel pressured into doing anything.
When a Gemini and a Capricorn meet in a business environment, they can collaborate and put what they know on the plate and create wonders.
Now when a Gemini and a Capricorn want to be in a loving relationship, they have to be ready to ride the rollercoaster this relationship will board them on.
The day Aurora met Joshua she thought she would never get herself to talk to him let alone becoming his friend, and later his best friend. She thought he was a hypocritical, shady, two-faced individual who could never be loyal to anyone. She called him all kinds of names. She never thought this guy would become such an intrinsic part of her life.
The Gemini in Joshua was too much for the Capricorn in Aurora, she could not bear to be close to him for one second, but they worked in the same place, and they lived in the same area, so there was no avoiding each other. They saw each other pretty much everyday, there was no escaping it. Until the day, they were assigned to a remote location together that things started to fall into place for a friendship to grow. Joshua was much taken by the way Aurora was so independent; she was unlike most women he had known. He wanted to know more about her, as a result, they started to build a friendship together, and they told each other things that they would not normally tell to another soul. They were each other’s confidants. They became best friends, and soon inseparable.
As the months went by, they were going back home to their permanent place of work, they finished the assignment successfully, and they both gained a friend in the process. If only they left it at that, they started to grow deeper feelings for one another, and before they knew it, they were falling for each other. They were both irresistible to one another, for they have never quite met anyone with their qualities and demeanors before. They felt almost as if they had to seize this occasion as fast as they could. In fact, they started to date; no one could come in between them in the beginning. They were very different in many levels but we all know opposites attract. How much attraction can those two opposites create, should be the question.
In the first stage of their loving relationship, they were in the seventh circle of Heaven. Everything was perfect which is typical, when you feel that you have found the love of your life. You feel that there is nothing in this world that could possibly go wrong; you feel that God created this person for you and only you, and that they are your perfect match. But there was something more genuine between those two, they knew from the get go, that they were very different from each other but they were very supportive of one another, they were each other’s rock, they completed each other.
All great things must come to an end. So this utopia period of their relationship was coming to an abrupt end, when their true signs started to take over. Their true personalities, the ones they knew before engaging into the relationship were making themselves known again. Stubborn Aurora, and flexible Joshua, Intense Aurora, and light-hearted Joshua were truly coming out and leaving their imprints all over the relationship.
Nevertheless, they were still very much in love with each other; there was a burning fire within them, every time they thought of the other. They could not leave each other alone, even if they felt it was probably the right choice. They did not know what to make of their situation. They knew they loved each other passionately but at the same could not stand each other at times. They could not live with each other yet they could not live without each other. It was heart breaking, this feeling they felt inside, they could not deny it, and it was so very true, so very sweet, so very real, but so very bitter as well.
In efforts to save their relationship, they tried everything and anything, they asked friends for advice, co-workers, and family alike, every one saw only one solution to their problems to end it point blank but they were not ready to do so. What a loving heart to do? They stayed together, made each other’s lives miserable when they were together and more miserable when they were apart.
The only way, they finally ended it, which was the worst possible way to end something like this, because your feelings are still there, are still very alive but chose to transfer it onto someone else. They both still have very deep feelings for one another but they chose to move on with other people, it may be a little selfish for their respective new partners, because they will never love them as they loved each other and as they still do. But they were both aware that was the ideal solution.
May be a Gemini and a Capricorn are not made to come into a romantic relationship but once they start loving each other, it’s beyond any relationships, it’s eternal. They can’t be together forever, but their hearts will always be intertwined forever, and they will always feel this burning fire for one another till the end of times.
Note to self: if you are a Capricorn or a Gemini keep away from each other because it will never work. Together, you will create a hell of heaven and vice versa... Ultimately, you will hurt them more than you could ever imagine. I know countless of Gemini and Capricorns who have tried to be together, even tried to marry one another but it always ended sadder than it had began. Be friends instead because you will always have each other’s back and this connection you two have is for life.
